Filler injections
Helsinki | Espoo | Kauniainen

Filler injections are an excellent solution for fading the signs of ageing and highlighting different facial features.

Wrinkles and fine lines are filled with hyaluronic acid, which is naturally present in our bodies. The filler we use, Restylane, is a very safe and researched product.

Fullness and wrinkle banishment

Filler injections can be used to soften age-related lines and wrinkles – hydrating the skin from the inside out.

It can also make lips fuller and more sensual and shape the lip line to make the lips more prominent. Injections can also be used to plump up the cheeks and chin.

Restylane – the world’s most researched filler injections

A filler injection is a natural and long-lasting beauty treatment made with hyaluronic acid, a substance that is naturally present in our bodies.

As we age, the amount of natural hyaluronic acid in our bodies decreases, causing the skin to lose elasticity and moisture. Hyaluronic acid injections improve the skin’s moisture balance and elasticity.

Restylane, the filler we use at Fenix, is the most researched and documented filler in the world. It is a crystal clear, non-animal, biodegradable gel, based on natural hyaluronic acid.

The areas of use are:

Shaping facial features, such as lifting cheekbones or shaping the nose or chin

Lip plumping

Wrinkles of the lips and lip surrounding area

Wrinkles running from the side of the nose to the roof of the mouth, aka nasolabial folds

Vertical lines between the eyes (Sibelius wrinkles)

Transverse wrinkles on the forehead

Frequently asked questions

Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in all living organisms, including our bodies. It adds volume to our skin, lubricates our joints and gives our eyes their shape.

It is a sugar molecule with a similar chemical structure everywhere, from simple bacteria to humans.

The hyaluronic acid in the filler we use is stabilised, so it stays on the skin for longer, and there are no animal or human ingredients.

No extraneous substances are needed to smooth wrinkles and folds or to make the mouth fuller and more sensual. Injectable hyaluronic acid binds water to your skin to lift and restore firmness.

Young skin is soft and supple. As we age, the skin’s ability to produce hyaluronic acid declines, causing the amount of hyaluronic acid in our skin to decrease. As hyaluronic acid helps to bind water to the skin, its ability to retain water also decreases. As a result, the skin’s ability to recover from tightening and wrinkling is reduced.

Reduced skin fullness also means that the skin becomes too loose (for example, when an overweight person loses weight quickly). This causes wrinkles, which makes the face look old.

The ampoule for injection is rich in hyaluronic acid, which makes the skin look healthy.

Very superficial wrinkles or deep wrinkles in thick skin cannot be corrected with hyaluronic acid. It is also not suitable for wrinkles just below the eye.

Acne scarring can be corrected on an individual basis. If the scar is large enough and not stuck to the bottom of the skin, it can be filled. However, skin resurfacing is the best treatment for acne scars.

Reactions thought to be of a hypersensitivity nature have been reported in about one patient per 10 000 patients.

Some injection-related reactions may occur after the injection. These include redness, swelling, pain, itching, discolouration and tenderness of the treated area.

Symptoms usually disappear spontaneously a few days after an injection in the skin and within a week after an injection in the lips.

Reactions to the injection have nothing to do with the filler itself.

In particular, injections to the lips and mouth can trigger herpes. If you have a history of herpes on the face, we recommend preventive herpes medication on the day of treatment.

Avoid taking NSAIDs, fish oil preparations, vitamin E and herbal products for 1-2 weeks before and immediately after treatment, which can increase the risk of bruising or bleeding at the injection site.

Before the procedure, the nurse will discuss your wishes and medical condition with you and go over any barriers to treatment and aftercare instructions.

The procedure involves injecting the filler precisely under the wrinkle/line or lip line, deep into the dermis. The effect is immediately visible.

Several injections can be used for one long strand.

Swelling and redness occur after the treatment, the duration of which is very individual – usually for 1-3 days.

The experience of pain is always individual, and it also depends on the area being treated. The area of the lips, which has a lot of nerve endings, is more sensitive, but elsewhere on the face, many people find filler treatment almost painless – and in any case, the injection is over quickly.

Anaesthesia (which is also an injection) is rarely needed.

We don’t use a superficial anaesthetic because it may cause some swelling of the tissue. In this case, when the actual injection treatment starts, the tissue would not look the same as it normally does and would therefore be more difficult to shape.

The treatment takes about 30 minutes.

When a person has:

  • Bleeding tendency
  • Permanent medication that affects blood clotting (e.g. Disperin, Marevan)
  • Any skin disease or inflammation in the area to be treated
  • Pregnancy

The filler we use, Restylane, is the most studied and documented filler.

It was launched in 1996, and since then a number of histological and clinical studies have been carried out, all of which have shown it to be an easy-to-use, well-tolerated and effective product.

To date, the products have successfully treated more than 10 000 000 people around the world.

At the moment there is no regulation. We want to offer our customers the safest possible service. That’s why our injections are administered by a nurse specialising in internal medicine and surgery.

You can apply make-up after 6 hours, but avoid exposing the treated area to heat (e.g. sauna, solarium, strong sunlight) or cold for as long as the mild blush or swelling last.

Avoid taking NSAIDs, fish oil preparations, vitamin E and herbal products for 1-2 weeks before and immediately after treatment, which can increase the risk of bruising or bleeding at the injection site.

The filler we use is available in three tissue-specific products, each designed for different purposes, such as smoothing fine lines, contouring the face or plumping and shaping the lips. The difference between the products is based on the particle size of the gel.

The practitioner will choose the right product or combination of products for your skin and your needs to achieve the best results.

  • Restylane is suitable for wrinkle smoothing and lip contouring.
  • Restylane Skinbooster is suitable for improving skin texture, fading fine lines.
  • Profhilo moisturises, firms and renews the skin by applying over a large area and is structurally a filler treatment that is significantly different from other fillers.

The fillers we use are long-lasting, but not permanent.

Hyaluronic acid breaks down spontaneously into carbon dioxide and water in the skin in 6-12 months. However, the result usually lasts for almost a year, because the more hyaluronic acid breaks down, the more it is able to absorb water, thus maintaining its volume.

The duration of treatment is also influenced by the client’s age, lifestyle, general condition and skin condition.

The effects of the first treatment are best maintained when you have regular re-treatments. The need for re-treatments will of course depend on the level of result you consider good. This means that the patient can later choose whether to continue in the same way or change the combination of treatments.

Restylane treatment can be repeated as many times as the patient wishes. After wrinkle treatment, most patients want a follow-up treatment 6-12 months after the first treatment. After lip treatment, a follow-up treatment is usually needed after 6 months.
