Our hair coloring services
Almost anything is possible in dyeing and the only limit is your imagination, although major changes require several visits to achieve the desired result.
Here’s our little information pack on the different types of hair colorings.
Hair bleaching is a chemical process that lightens the color of the hair. Bleaching treatments always use an acid.
Bleaching can be done either with a bleaching dye, where the hair’s own pigment is dyed lighter, or by “bleaching”, where the hair’s pigment is completely removed.
Of the two, bleach dyeing is a much gentler treatment for the hair. Bleach bleaching should always be accompanied by a tinting treatment, or folding, which corrects the hair and removes unwanted yellowing from the light colour.
- To preserve and maintain the shade of cool blonde hair, always use a silver shampoo and conditioner designed for this purpose in home care. Without these products, the cold blonde tone will disappear from the hair and revert to a warm, usually yellowish tone.
- Maintenance treatment of cold blonde hair with products designed for this purpose should be started immediately after colouring. The hair should not be allowed to turn yellow first, as it is almost impossible to regain a cold blonde shade once lost with home care products alone.
We will not lighten hair colored with vegetable dyes or henna at all.
Highlighting hair means separating the roots from the hair, and treating them with a hair dye or bleach to make them lighter or darker than the base or natural colour. Stripes can be used to add dimension by creating contrast with other hair.
Hair striping can be done with foils, a hood or special combs or brushes to “paint” the colour into the hair.
Balayage is the process of applying a hair colour, bleach or tint with your free hand or brushing it downwards with soft strokes directly onto the surface of the desired section. This method is used to create dimension when a natural and soft finish is desired.
The word balayage comes from the French word balayer, meaning to cut or sweep.
Ombré is a colouring technique where the hair is dyed lighter than the roots and the colour change from dark to light is much steeper than in balayage.
In ombré-dyed hair, the horizontal colour change is very visible.
Shading means toning the actual colour, it into a cooler colour.
This is a technique for tinting warm, golden or yellow tones to cool light ones. Cool and grey tones always require tinting.
Toning is always an additional service to color processing.
Light colour is a low-acid tint that does not lighten the hair at all. Light colour can be taken as is. It is not a tint and does not require any color treatment below.
Lightweight dyes are not as durable as permanent dyes and fade more quickly with washing than with color treatment. Light color is a gentler treatment for hair than permanent color.
Hair grows from the root, so the growth of the root is inevitable. The root color is the hair’s own color, which grows darker or lighter than the color applied to the hair lengths.
The color limit for the base color is 3 cm or less. If the length of the base to be dyed is more than 3 cm, it is no longer a root color but a color.
Although the definition of a root color is 3 cm or less for hair of any length, a root color for short hair is preferable to one for medium or long hair. The price difference for deep color is based on the time needed to treat the hair – i.e. washing and drying.
If you are planning a major color change to your hair, we strongly recommend a consultation with us.
Your hairdresser should listen to your wishes and at the same time see your hair’s initial condition, i.e. its current color, length and thickness. This will allow us to allow enough time for the work to be done, and also to tell you immediately if, for one reason or another, your wish cannot be achieved in one or two treatments. Examples of this include changing from black to blonde or removing straight blue color.
It’s good to know that the darker the hair and the more layers of color you’ve applied, the more challenging and longer the project will be to get blonde hair. This inevitably means several visits.
All specialised work, such as major bleaching from very dark to light, is always done on an hourly basis.
Intensive hair treatments are always tailored to the scalp and hair type. With any other hair service, you can get intensive treatments at a lower price.

Frequently asked questions
Permanent hair color usually uses an oxidant to open up the hair’s surface layer and allow the color particles to penetrate the hair cuticle. Permanent color permanently changes the hair’s natural pigment, and the color remains in the hair until it grows out or the dye is removed. Permanent color can be used to achieve large color changes.
In semi-permanent coloring, or light coloring, the color does not penetrate as deeply into the hair, but settles mainly on the top layer. In light coloring, a mild acid is used. This color fades after several washes. Light color can be used to darken or lighten the hair tone, but cannot be used to make major color changes.
Color rinse colors do not contain acid, so they do not alter the natural pigment of the hair. The color stays on the surface of the hair and fades quickly with washing.
We recommend a permanent color if you’re sure of the shade you want, and a light color if you’re not sure of the color, just want a little touch-up or want to change your hair color often.
Hair dyeing is a chemical process in which the natural pigment in the hair is either changed or replaced by another color. It can be done in different ways depending on the type of dye used.
When dyeing hair, the dye must reach the hair’s cortex, or middle layer, because this is where the hair’s natural color, or pigment, is located.
When you bleach your hair, you need to get your own natural pigment out of the hair first. The lighter the end result you want, the more of the hair’s own pigment must be removed.
The Cosmetics Act does not directly prohibit hair coloring for children under 16, but the Finnish Consumer Safety Principle states that hairdressers are responsible for the safety of the service they provide. For this reason, we do not dye hair of children under 16, even with the consent of a guardian.
If you’ve been using home dyes, make sure you tell this to your hairdresser straight away, before you start your color treatment.
Home dyes can often prevent professional dyes from working, so in the worst case, the color treatment you receive will not produce any results and you will lose both time and money in unnecessary treatment. The hairdresser will always see the use of home dyes at the latest when professional dyes do not produce any result on the hair after the exposure time.
Hair colored with home dyes can be successfully colored by a hairdresser, as long as the hairdresser knows about home dyes beforehand. Then the hairdresser can choose the right products and techniques to achieve the best possible result.
Hair dyes, like any other cosmetics, can cause allergies. If you have had an allergic reaction to a hair dye in the past, it is recommended that you never dye your hair, eyelashes or eyebrows with permanent dyes again.
High quality products and the right techniques protect hair during the coloring process. That’s why its better to leave the dyeing to a professional.
It is not forbidden to dye your hair during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
However, it is good to know that the success and permanence of any kind of chemical treatment, such as colors and perms during pregnancy and breastfeeding, is very individual.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding confuse women’s endocrine systems in such a way that unfortunately we cannot give any guarantee that chemical hair treatments will be successful: your hair color may be perfect or it may not stick to your strands at all.
It is therefore good to know that failure to dye during pregnancy or breast-feeding is not a ground for marketing.
The duration of the dyeing process depends on the length, thickness of the hair and the technique used. For example, streaking is slower than applying a single color and the bleaching color needs to be left to work longer than other colors. In most cases, dyeing takes 2-4 hours, including washing and finishing.
The appropriate interval depends entirely on the client: the speed of hair growth and the maintenance of the desired color, among other things. A base color may need to be renewed every 6-8 weeks, while a long hair streak may need to be dyed every 3-6 months.
Strong colors, such as red or bright shades, usually need more frequent maintenance.
We recommend washing your hair with shampoos for coloured hair. Avoid too frequent washes.
Before styling, use a heat protectant on your hair – this will keep the color bright for longer, and your hair in better condition.
