Brazilian Sugaring
Helsinki | Espoo | Kauniainen

– from us also for men!

Brazilian sugaring, or “brassi” among friends, refers to a method of completely removing the hair from the genital area by simply leaving a small strip of hair on the pubic mound. The hair can also be completely removed if the client wishes.

We at Fenix Beauty Centre have been performing Brazilian hair removal for both men and women since 2005. So we warmly welcome women, men and everyone – regardless of gender.

Making the intimate areas gently porcelain smooth

Sugaring is best for small and sensitive areas of skin where the skin is thin (mucous membranes, inguinal folds) and the hair is thick and stiff and the root hairs are tight. This is why sugaring is the best method for Brazilian hair removal.

In sugaring, the hair is removed in the natural direction of the hair growth, so that the hairs do not break off and no ingrown hairs are produced.

At Fenix, Brazilian hair removal includes everything from the pubic mound to the top of the buttocks, i.e. pubic hair, labia/lips and buttocks.

So if you want, you can get a full “porcelain” hair removal, but at your request we can leave a small “runway” for example for the pubic mound.

Don’t even think about such crazy things! Brassi has been our most popular treatment for well over ten years now, with both men and women. We do them all the time, dozens of brazilians every day, thousands a year. It’s nothing to be worried about. Just show up in all your naturalness, it will be over easier and faster than you think. 🙂

Well from us! At Fenix, we have been performing intimate area sugaring for men since 2005. So we warmly welcome men to have a brazilian too.

Preparing for Brazilian

Let all the flowers bloom – let your hairs grow freely! Too short hair is difficult and painful to remove, so don’t shave for two weeks before your appointment to a brazilian.

In our salon, you have the opportunity to wash up before starting the sugaring process. After that, all you need is a sporting spirit! We’ll take care of the rest.

If you’re nervous, let your beautician know. We’re here for you and we’re here to make your experience as pleasant as possible.

  • Avoid sauna and sports (sweating) and swimming for 12 hours.
  • Avoid wearing tight, abrasive clothing immediately after treatment.
  • Do not scratch or scrub the skin after treatment.
  • Moisturise and exfoliate your skin regularly. This will effectively prevent ingrown hairs from forming. For example, a dry brushing glove is a good option for exfoliating intimate areas.

Frequently asked questions

ABOUT

They are. A beloved child has many names.

Brazilian wax is from the time when all hair removal was done by waxing. Since sugaring replaced waxing, Brazilian waxing is now Brazilian sugaring.

First, the area to be sugared is cleaned by wiping it with a cotton swab and a disinfectant cleaner. During the sugaring process, a little sugaring powder is sprinkled on the skin to keep it dry and help the sugar stick to the hairs.

The sugaring of the intimate area proceeds in small sections. The cosmetologist always tightens the skin as necessary so that the skin does not stretch and “go up with the sugar”, but remains as tight as possible, allowing the hair to come out of the hair follicle easily, quickly and painlessly. If the skin is allowed to move, sugar flicking can easily cause a bruise. Of course, we don’t do these for our clients.

The beautician guides the sugaring process all the way through, so you don’t need to know what to do beforehand. The positions of the legs are slightly varied along the way and finally the hairs are also taken from the buttocks in a slightly sideways position.

After sugaring, the skin is treated with a range of four different products under the Radeq Lab sugaring brand used at Fenix. Particularly suitable for Brazilian sugaring are the serum and balm designed for sensitive skin, both of which are applied to the skin to enhance the conditioning effect. Afterwards, everything is ready and the client can get dressed.

This position is widely used abroad, but we do not use this position in Fenix.

Hair cannot be removed from the genital area if you are wearing something in front of you, such as panties or a towel. So in a brazilian you are naked from your lower body, but although it may feel like it before the first time, it is not at all embarrassing.

The first time, you will often be given about an hour, but the treatment time may vary depending on the person involved. Depending on the quantity and quality of the hairs to be removed, sugaring takes about 20-45 minutes.

Most likely not. For example, a 45-minute appointment means that the esthetician has at most this amount of time to carry out the treatment. This time includes the clients dressing and undressing, cashiering, and booking a new appointment if wanted.

Whenever the hairs are plucked out by the roots, it does sting a little. But only a little.

Almost without exception, first-timers are amazed at how little it hurt in the end and how quickly it was over.

With all our clients we have a nice chat with each other about anything between heaven and earth and we usually keep on chatting throughout the whole sugaring session. So it’s really relaxed and comfortable and more painless than you can imagine.

We’re very experienced sugarists, and we know how to divert the client’s attention so that the brazilian itself seems like it was just a little side job.

Usually the first time is the worst, just because of the mental tension, and that’s not really bad either.

The first time, all the hairs can be removed, so tearing them out is a bit more of an experience than the subsequent visits. Immediately after the first time, the hairs grow back in a thinner form and in some places the new hairs have not yet had time to grow through the skin at all.

In this case, the second visit is already much easier than the first. By the second visit, the tension is gone, and customers are actually already feeling like home with us.

A hair length of 5 mm or more is sufficient to allow enough grip area and to be able to remove there in one flick.

You can never have too much hair. Long hair is trimmed down to its removal length at the salon, so you can come in for a sugaring with your hair in its “natural state”.

Our beautician can do her best to remove hair that is too short (less than 5 mm), but it is virtually certain that there is no way to achieve a wonderfully soft and perfectly silky result. It is even possible that a short stubble will not come off at all during the sugaring process.

If the hair is too short, it is considered as booked and used time and it will be charged at full price regardless of the outcome.

We therefore strongly recommend that you stop “shaving” well before the sugaring procedure, preferably at least two weeks before the procedure.

There’s no need to prepare for that. As long as the hair is long enough (at least 5 mm), you’ll be fine. If the hair is very long, more than 15 mm, the sugar application may pull the hair a little. If you want, you can trim the long hair at home to about 10 mm. Again, this is not necessary, as we can do the trimming for you in the salon.

Hygiene is important. You can still have a wash in the clinic, just before the treatment starts.

Yes! Because it is so gentle, sugar is perfect for this.

Yes, between the buttocks area is also sugared to be hairless in a brazilian.

Just coming in with a hair that is too short can lead to an unsatisfactory result. So don’t be shy about tidying up beforehand, but rather come with a “bikini line that comes out of your knee pants”. Trust us: there’s no hair so long, bushy or dark that we haven’t already seen.

Also, don’t shave your hair between visits. Shaving breaks the hair, making it stiffer and stronger and therefore harder to remove than new, soft hair that is tapered at the end. Think of a tree and a stump. Although the stump itself is no thicker or stronger than a tree, it would still be much more difficult to remove the stump, than a full-grown tree.

We have listed all the training courses and years of training that our estheticians have attended in the staff introductions. Often good brazilian sugarists are also praised by friends or in various online discussion groups.

After sugaring, the hair follicles are open for 12 hours. During this time, there is a risk of inflammation, and it is therefore advisable to avoid saunas, sports and swimming.

The sugar is about skin temperature, just slightly warmer. It will definitely not burn the skin.

The recommended treatment interval is 3-6 weeks depending on the individual hair growth rate. The golden rule is “once a month”. You can always book a regular, lower-priced brazilian if it has been six weeks or less since your last visit.

We cannot treat inflamed or irritated skin.

Yes, you can, if you feel good about it. The important thing is to wash well and use a tampon or a menstrual cup. Some clients find that they are more sensitive to pain during menstruation, while others feel the opposite.

Of course not! On the contrary: a Brazilian is a good option during pregnancy, because it is difficult to remove hair from behind because of a big belly.

You do not need to be on your stomach during the treatment. If it is difficult to lie on your back, we can raise the backrest of the carer slightly. The necessary postural changes are so small and easy that they are very easily done even in the late pregnanancy.

There is no real age limit for Brazil, but most people start to get interested after they reach the age of 18 years.

Sugar is a gentler choice because it only sticks to hairs and dead skin cells – not living skin cells like wax.

Sugaring is also often perceived as a more pleasant alternative to waxing for sensitive skin areas.

The skin may be momentarily red, itchy or tingly, but it usually goes away very quickly. Often all the sensations stop when the sugaring stops. Sometimes the sensation can last for 10 minutes and then be gone. The wonderful thing about sugaring is that it doesn’t leave your skin sore or sensitive to the touch at all.

We recommend avoiding thongs made of synthetic materials after treatment and preferring cotton underwear instead.

After sugaring, you should avoid all forms of sweating, such jogging, sauna and tanning beds, as well as swimming or applying cosmetics to the treated area for the next 12 hours. Treatment products applied by a cosmetologist are sufficient to treat the skin for the next 24 hours.

Sexual intercourse should be avoided for 12 hours after treatment, as the hair follicles are open during this time and there is a risk of infection.

So don’t come to Brazilian just before a hot date. 😉

At Fenix, it has been our most popular sweetener for almost two decades and it’s only getting more popular.

Anything goes in Brazilian! Regardless of age, gender, marital status or socio-economic background, brazilian has long been everyone’s cup of tea. Our youngest customer has been 16 years old and our oldest is over 80.

Our largest client group for this treatment is men and women aged 35-55 with families. In other words, the “ordinary people.”

I have to admit it: you get hooked on Brazilian sugaring. The skin is wonderfully soft and smooth even a couple of weeks after the treatment, and when the hairs start to grow back, they come back sporadically here and there, soft, without a stinging ugly stubble.

After the treatment, you will also feel really clean and hygienic – a feeling that our male customers in particular have been praising for years.

PRICING

Our up-to-date price list can be found on our price list page. As of 2023, the cost of a first-time brassiere is €84, and €69 for follow-up visits up to six weeks apart.

A skilled and trained beautician is likely to be able to do a brazilian faster than an average sugarist, but this will not affect the price of the work done. However, the amount of work is the same, a skilled person may just be faster than a less experienced person.

In any case, the excellent professionalism of the sugarist cannot be a factor in lowering the price.

We price our brassicas according to the same rules for all our customers, regardless of their “hair”. Brazilian sugaring is always a special job, regardless of the amount of hair. It is not possible to get it at a discount.

First-time visitors and clients visiting us for more than six weeks always pay the price according to the price list.

Our regular customers who stay with us for up to six weeks always pay the regular price for a Brazilian, according to the price list.

We do not “punish” our customers with more hair with higher prices, nor do we “reward” our customers with less hair with lower prices.

We also don’t charge men more than women, although this pricing model is also seen in many places.

We value all our customers equally and therefore our pricing is clear and fair for everyone.♥️

The beautician will not carry out sugaring in other areas at the same price in the surplus time. If you have extra time, you can always ask the beautician to sugar your armpits at the same time. However, these will always be charged separately.

We don’t shock minutes, but a specific area of skin.

Men’s brazilian

Yes, we definitely do. We have been doing Brazilian sugaring for men since the very beginning of the company, since 2005. We are very experienced male sugarists, which is why we have such a large male clientele.

An erection is a normal physical reaction that sometimes occurs during a brazilian. It does not bother the cosmetologist treating you, it is nothing to be ashamed of, and there is no need to be embarrassed about it. It comes and goes, and it does not hinder the sugaring in any way. So don’t worry about this in advance at all.

No charge, our brasses are always the same price for all genders.
