In addition to the color of the nail polish and the decorations, the shape of the nails also has a major influence on the way your nails and hands look.
Gel nails add extra length
Gel nails are the most beautiful and durable method when you want to add length to your nails.
It is possible to have your own nails extended using a moulding technique, gel or acrylic solution. At Fenix, we do gel nails for our clients.
It is important to always have your gel nails maintained or removed by a professional to avoid damaging your own natural nails.
The age limit for gel nails is 16 years.
Gel nails can be long, pointed stilettos or spectacularly decorated creations, but also short and natural looking. Our nail studios also create more minimalist nails on a weekly basis, a long-lasting favourite for many.
Our nail artists will create the gel nails you want – or give you tips if you’re struggling to choose from a seemingly endless range of options.
- Do not tear or pluck your nails, cuticles or gel building mass
- Never use your nails as tools
- Be careful with the buttons and knobs: use a finger knuckle or other aid such as a pencil
- Be careful in the gym with weights, when lifting things or boxes, when opening the car door, when wearing a seat belt or using zippers.
- Wear protective gloves when your nails or hands are exposed to dirt or chemicals (e.g. when doing home or garden work)
- Remember good hand hygiene: brush your nail beds, use a good quality hand sanitiser and disinfect your hands and nails if necessary.
- Avoid using nail polish and unnecessary filing
With regular maintenance, your gel nails will remain consistently presentable and strong. Always have your nails looked after by a professional nail designer.
The recommended maintenance interval is 3-5 weeks. Even if your nails are still in good condition, they need to be maintained to prevent nail growth and problems.
During maintenance, the old gel mass is filed and the growth at the base is filled in. During the service, it is possible to change the style of the nails.
If you want to remove your gel nails, always have them removed by a professional. Your nail technician will know how to remove your nails without damaging your natural nail.

Artificial nails are built on a natural nail with acrylate mass to give the nail extra length, thickness and shape.
Artificial nails can be either acrylic or gel nails.
Acrylic and gel nails are chemically similar substances, the differences in name are mainly due to the way the nails are made.
Acrylic nails are made by mixing two different components (powder and liquid) and the mixture hardens under the influence of air. Acrylic nails can be identified at the manufacturing stage by the very pungent smell of the acrylic liquid. Finished acrylic nails do not smell of anything.
Gel nails are made from a pre-mixed gel-like mass, which is cured under ultraviolet light. Unlike acrylic nails, gel nails are completely odourless, even during the application phase.
Unlike acrylic nails, gel nails are completely fragrance-free.
We want to keep our service environment as customer-friendly as possible, which is why we stopped making acrylic nails years ago, due to the unpleasant smell they cause.
They are not – these things are often confused.
Gel polish is a combination of gel mass and nail polish. However, gel polish, as the name suggests, is simply a varnish that is applied to the nail from a bottle with a brush in the same way as normal nail polish and cannot be used to build up the length, thickness or shape of the nail. Gel polish can be applied to fingers or toes.
Combining gel and acrylic compounds can be used to make so-called hybrid nails, but we at Fenix do not do this.
Although acrylic and gel compounds are similar in chemical composition, there are risks in combining them.
As a result of the combination, it is possible that the different substances may start to repel each other and the stability of the new paste on the old one may be significantly worse than when using a similar paste.
Gel polishes used as nail coatings also have a poorer durability at the joints of the materials and may be much less durable.
We only use moulds (no glue or tips) to build the extension, so the whole nail is acrylic or gel paste.
The formulas give a more natural look and a stronger finish, as there is no adhesive bond between your own nail and the artificial nail that could become fragile in use.
When properly done and maintained, construction nails will not damage natural nails. That is why it is important that the maker is a professional.

We too have heard the urban legend that nails don’t breathe under structural nails, but if they are properly done and maintained they can last for many years in a row.
Artificial nails can also be made on short nails. If you have a habit of biting your nails, gel nails can actually be a good way to break the habit.
We do not recommend it. You can also come to us for a single nail repair, in case of an accident, for example if a nail breaks.
Yes, it is. We do not recommend artificial nails for growing and developing nails of children, and therefore we only do gel nails for people aged 16 and over.
